lost city of Mohenjo – Daro existed more than

4000 years ago in the Indus Valley in South Asia. People from the Indus Valley civilization lived there between 2600 and 1900 bc. Mohenjo – Daro means Mound of the Dead. Nobody lives there today, but archaeologists think that more than 35 000 people lived there in the past. The city is about 1,5 square kilometres in size. The ruins of the city, in Pakistan, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

in some places. Many of the house walls are still standing. The people made bricks from mud and dried them in the sun. They used the bricks to build foundations, walls, buildings and wells.
