D.C is the capital of the United States of
America. It is situated on the East Coast. It was chosen by George Washington as a permanent site for a capital on December 1, 1800. Washington, D.C., doesn’t belong to any state. It’s a city and district - the District of Columbia. Don’t confuse with the State of Washington.

of the first President of the USA in1888. It is called “ThePencil”, because it is one of the tallest stone structure in the USA. This
monument is over 555 feet tall and provides a panoramic view of

The Lincoln Memorial

36 columns. Each
column represents the state in the Union at the time ofLincoln’s death. But the dominant feature of the building is the realistic figure
of Lincoln. He became the 16th President of the USA in 1861. Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed the blacks in the South from slavery.
