He was born in 1865 in India in the
family of the director of the museum.
In 1871 Rudyard and his sister were
sent to England to get education.
The boy went to Davon military dchool school, but of bad eyesight he could
not be an officer. In 1882 he returned
to India and became a journalist.

Childhood

He got

such job as a vet and travelled
a lot. He visited such countries as
North and South America, Japan,
Australia, Africa. At that time he
wrote a lot of tales for children.
“Kim” was his best novel.

In 1892 Rudyard Kipling got
married to Caroline Balister.
They had got 3 children—two
daughters and a son. Some years years they lived in the USA, but
in 1896 they returned to
England. At that time he wrote
“ The Jungle Book” – the famous
book for children.

Family

Nobel Prize for literature. By this time he wrote

4 novels, 3 books for children, a lot of stories and poems.
He was awarded honorary degrees of Oxford and Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities.
