83 federal subjects.46 oblasts (provinces), 21 republics, 9 krais (territories), 4 autonomous okrugs (autonomous districts), 1 autonomous oblast (the Jewish Autonomous Oblast), 2 federal cities (Moscow and St. Petersburg).

Australia is a constitutional monarchy
with a federal division of powers.
Australia has six states—New
South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, and Western Australia—and two major mainland territories—the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

School attendance is compulsory throughout Australia.
All children receive 11 years of compulsory education from
