Heroic action
Moving deeper into Romania, the division in
which M.N. Zavodsky served, went to the city of
Turda. On 04.10.1944 a platoon on many tanks boldly threw on the enemy's rear and, cutting the highway, in full encirclement for many hours fought with superior enemy forces before the approach of the main forces. During the battle, about 60 enemy soldiers and officers were killed.

On October 5, 1944, Lieutenant
Zavodsky received an order to reconnoitre in the dominant
heights near the village of Touroeni in order to identify enemy firing points. During the battle, MN Zavodsky was killed. He was buried in the cemetery of the Romanian village Petresti de Mizlok in the County of Cluj.
