Kovernino is associated with the name of Boris
Kustodiev. We say with great pride that Boris Kustodiev,
an outstanding Russian painter, visited Khokhloma and Kovernino twice in 1903 and 1912. He glorified Kovernino and the village of Khokhloma in some of his works. He did enjoy the cats of Khokhloma and beautiful women from Kovernino drinking tea from samovars and painted them so vividly.
