Was used as a menagerie (zoological garden) in the 18-19 centuries. In 1828 there were 280 exotic animals including lions, leopards, tigers, elephants. Later they were relocated into Regent’s Park.
The guardians of the Tower are 9 black ravens. ‘If the ravens leave the Tower, the kingdom will fall’ (if the six residence ravens leave, the Tower and United Kingdom will come to an end)
