How the idea was born
In our English lessons
we studied the theme “Clothes” and when we discussed
the school uniform we’ve found out that many students in our class don’t want to wear the uniform because they don’t like it. And we are interested in “Why is it so?” and “What can we do to better the situation?”
Слайд 3
The problem of the project is
how to make
wearing a uniform prestige
how to make that everyone in
our school wears our uniform
Слайд 4
To solve this problem
we decided to make a
survey “The uniform: pro or contra”;
to study the i-net,
articles, illustrations about the history of wearing school uniform and modern school uniform in different countries and in our country
Слайд 5
Our purpose is
Every student in our school would
like to wear our uniform and be proud of
it
Слайд 6
The tasks are
To learn the history of a
uniform
To find out: is it a really problem
in other countries or just in our country
To collect and study more information
To study the public opinion
To study how to work with information and classify it
Try to make a draft of a new uniform

History. Uniform in England
School uniform in England became a model
for all states. For the first time a school uniform has appeared in the XVI in the UK - during the reign of Henry VIII. Today, in Britain, almost all schools have their own school uniform.
In modern Britain, each school has its own form, in addition, the school is commonly used symbols.

Uniform in the USA
In the USA a school
uniform was introduced as needed. In the 80 years
of the 20th century, in order to avoid conflict between the children of the clothes, some cities have introduced school uniforms as an experiment. And in 1996, the school received the status of a form of casual wear American children. Now the United States is the school uniform identification mark that distinguishes one student from another school. Each school will set dress codes for their students. Prohibited the open tops, low-slung pants.

Uniform in Japan
Japan certainly has the highest
originality and beauty uniforms. There is no single national
standard form, every city, school - unique. Japanese school uniform is the most stylish in the world.
Слайд 13
Uniform in the USSR
In the
USSR a school form changed several times. There were
a few models. For girls it was a classic brown dress of the black(everyday) or white(for solemn events) apron strung behind on a bow. School dresses were modestly decorated by lace turn-down neckwears and cuffs. In addition to it girls could carry black or brown(everyday) or white(front doors) bows. The bows of other colours on rules were shut out.

Uniform in the USSR for boys
For
soviet boys main attributes forms were: service cap with
a cockade, half-length strap with a massive buckle and soldier's blouse – in50-th, a dark blue suit with a white shirt in 70-90th.
Слайд 18
Uniform in our school
Our school is 20
years old and it has its own history of
school uniform.
In 90-th there was no uniform in our school (as in all country )
Then we had different kinds of it. For example like this
Слайд 20
But it always was green because our school
was an ecological gymnasium
Слайд 21
Today we have a simply everyday uniform( grey
with a school symbol on it for boys and
girl) and a yellow T-shirt and a cap with a school symbol for our school team
Слайд 23
Survey in our school
In our school there was
a survey, there pupils were asked the questions about
our school uniform.
There are some questions of the survey and their answers:
Слайд 24
1. How often do you usually wear a
uniform?
Слайд 25
30% - always
35% - ones, twice a
week
19% - seldom
16% - never
Слайд 26
2. Would you wear a school uniform every
day, if it meets all of your requirements?
Слайд 27
81% - yes
12% - no
3,5%
- no matter
3,5% - I do not know
Слайд 28
3. Do you like your school uniform?
Слайд 30
4. What qualities must have a school
uniform?
Слайд 31
40% - comfortable
32% - beautiful
27% -
stylish
1% - bright
Слайд 32
5. Would you like that your uniform had
several options and outfits?
Слайд 34
And 62% of asked students have the same
opinion
Today, the Government in many world’s countries believes that
school uniforms play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of schools: The Department for Children, Schools and Families strongly encourages schools to have a uniform as it can instil pride; support positive behaviour and discipline; encourage identity with, and support for, school ethos; ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome; protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way; nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils.[4]
School uniforms are required to be fair for both genders, be available at a reasonably low cost and tolerate religious freedoms e.g. allowing Sikhs to wear turbans.[5]
Слайд 35
Conclusions
We’ve studied the problem and found out that
students in different schools in foreign countries (especially in
old schools with their traditions) are proud of wearing their school’s uniform
Слайд 36
We’ve also found out that most of our
students would like to wear a uniform every day
if it will be “perfect”: more beautiful, stylish, various and bright. May be like this
Слайд 38
We tried to make different drafts of a
school uniform for our school and want to offer
a competition “The best draft of a school uniform” to raise the prestige of it among our students
Слайд 43
What this project gave to us
Our survey can
be used by experts
It helped us to study English
better
It exited our interest to other countries’ culture and school life
We learnt to make a survey and to work with different kind of information
We hope that it will help our students to understand the meaning and importance of school uniform
