It helped the deaf to pronounce words they could not hear.

Watson ran upstairs and shouted, "I heard you! "
It was on the 10th of March, 1876.

He improved the design of the telephone and

by 1886 more than 150 000 people had owned telephones in the United States.

Bell is at the opening of the long-distance line from New York to Chicago in 1892.
