Canyon National Park is a red, pink and golden rock ‘fairy-land’ of pinnacles and spires. It was known to the Paiute Indians as ‘red rocks standing like men in bowl-shaped canyon’.

Utah,
the Paiutes, looked upon the colorful "Hoodoos" as "Legend People" who were turned to stone by Coyote.
Erosive forces as well as ancient rivers and
basins have formed a remarkable arrangement
of fantastic shapes and changed colorful Claron limestone, sandstone and mudstone into a maze of thousands of strange figures, like spires, fins and some of them looking like people – the well-known “Hoodoos”.
