Grim Reapers.
Grim Reapers are in charge of deciding
whether a soul is to live on or to
die. So far, four Reapers have been introduced: Grell Sutcliff, Ronald Knox, William T. Spears, and the Undertaker. Grell is the first reaper who is introduced to the series. Each reaper wields a scythe (some of which should not even have existed during that time period, such as a chainsaw or lawn mower.)
Grell Sutcliff is an irresponsible reaper from anime ”Kuroshitsuji”.
He doesn´t like rules and he does everything that he wants. But always his adventures are ending by “suspension from work for a while". Once his Reaper Scythe was even confiscated.

Grell`s character.
Grell Sutcliff is a flamboyant character
who initially worked as Madame Red's butler. Grell and
Madame Red formed a partnership in which they killed people. He was a “butler-fool”, often clumsy, and failed horribly at making tea. Grell considers himself a lady, and refers to herself as so. Grell's character interview describes him as a "self-declared-lady", sometimes he uses female pronouns, and outright states that Grell calls herself a lady and that "God made a mistake".
He is a hot-tempered Grim Reaper. Grell is originally seen as an antagonist, however appears to just take a liking to killing people. Grell killed Madame Red when she refused to kill Ciel, seeing Ciel as her own son. Grell is respectfully referred to as “sempai” by both Undertaker and Ronald, however William just calls him “Grell”. Grell is rather cunning, fierce and evil. He often tried to commit suicide when he made a mistake as a butler. Grell did this so often that the Phantomhive staff gave up on trying to stop him.

Grell´s biography.
Grell came into the organization “carring the
death “ with William T. Spears. He had three
“5” and one “4”, and William had four “4”. So Sutcliff hated William. He must to be in one team with T. Spears, and Grell, of course, didn´t like it. He tried to kill him twice, but first time he didn´t want to fail, and second time he couldn´t do it. Then Grell thought, that William is rather good and when T. Spears was in a great danger, Grell safe him life.
Then William became a chief of organization, but Grell was just a worker, because he was wayward.
After some time, us I said, Grell Sutcliff met Madame Red and worked as her butler. Grell and Madame Red called “Jack the Reaper” and killed people.
But he killed Madam Red and become a Reaper again.
After that his Death Scythe was confiscated. Then the main story started.
Grell is some kind of minor antagonist. He sometimes helped main characters, but rather wanted to kill one of them and periodically tryed to do this.

Differents between Grell in manga and in anime.
I
like better Grell from anime. Why?
Because in manga Grell
appears rarely and always as a real antagonist.
But in anime Sutcliff is the third ”main character”. He appears rather often, sometimes as the protagonist, but sometimes as the antagonist.
In anime he is something like ”a big child”, but just evil.
In manga Grell is extremely cruel man with very bad character.
Oh! Ahd in anime his externality is just more cool :D
